Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - Why Should You Avoid It ?

Natural Hair Care

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate- It is the main ingredient in most shampoos, but it can be causing your hair problems. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, or SLS, is used in engine degreasers, floor cleaners, and other industrial cleaning products. So why do we find it in our shampoo ingredient list? Well sulfates in general are cheap cleaning and lathering agents. They give your hair a squeaky clean feeling by stripping the natural oils and strength from each strand. Overtime, this causes hair breakage and hair loss, especially when combined with other harmful chemicals. If your hair is relaxed, the last thing you want is a shampoo that is going to damage it even more. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is known to cause skin rashes, hair loss, scalp scurf (similar to dandruff) and other allergic reactions. However, if you go to a local beauty store you will find that most of the shampoos on the market contain this damaging ingredient known to attack the hair follicles. Although SLS is the most commonly discussed sulfate, and probably the strongest, all sulfates can cause dryness, breakage, and hair loss. Essentious Exonerate, our all natural, sulfate free shampoo contains no sodium lauryl sulfate. It contains NO SULFATES at all. It is a rich shampoo with with a rich lather and refreshing scent. It helps prevent the splitting and breaking of the hair.

Essentious hair products are specifically formulated for dry, chemically treated, and damaged hair. However, hair in good condition will also benefit from the gentle, moisture building, and strengthening formulas.
